5th June 2016: Hercules 2 won by 5 wickets, by Chodimella Venkata Pramod

Sunday, the 5th of June looked like a perfect sunny day for Hengelo 2 to play their away game against Hercules in Utrecht. Hengelo 2 captain, Raghu won the toss and elected to bat first, hoping the batsmen do well on a nice ground with a fast outfield, even though the wicket was a little slow.

Diederik and Sander opened the batting for Hengelo 2. Both batsmen played sensibly, with Diederik finding the boundary on every possible occasion. Hercules were conceding too many extras in this partnership until Sander was caught behind in the 9th over of the innings when the score was on 55. After the fall of first wicket, Pramod joined Diederik and together, they continued to play until the 20th over, after which Pramod was caught behind. The team score was 92/2 at that moment. Soon after, Hengelo 2 collapsed and the team was all out for 126, showing the inconsistency of the batting line up. The top scorer in the Hengelo 2 innings was Diederik, who was on 42 when given out lbw in the 22nd over.

After a quick lunch, Hercules started their innings and Hengelo 2 opened the bowling with John Kloppenburg. With a small target to defend, Hengelo 2 picked up the first wicket in the very first over when John had the Hercules opener, Tanveer, drag the ball onto his stumps. However, the guests could not grab wickets in quick succession, allowing the hosts to settle down. Although the bowling changes worked for a while - with captain Raghu himself taking two back-to-back wickets and creating some interest in the match - the Hercules team achieved the small target quite comfortably in 38 overs with 5 wickets remaining.
